'The September Issue' With Anna Wintour
The big issue
This is one movie we cannot wait to see. The September Issue is a behind-the-scenes, documentary look at Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour, and the making of their big September issue.
Some are saying it's Conde Nast's reaction to The Devil Wears Prada. And that they're tying to show that Anna Wintour isn't really a witch and that she actually has personality. Others are saying they're just trying to get Vogue's subscription numbers up in these troubling times.
One thing is for sure; we'll be watching. Who isn't a bit intrigued by the fashion magazine industry and exactly what goes on behind the scenes? And who isn't at least a little bit curious about what Anna Wintour is really like? The September Issue reminds us a bit of Valentino: The Last Emporer, which was a documentary all about the famous Italian fashion designer.
The upcoming movie takes a look at the making of the 2008 September issue of Vogue. It makes us wonder a bit though, how different that making was for this year's September issue. After all, tons of news reports have been saying this year's September issue of Vogue is substantially thinner than in previous years due to poor ad sales.
Are you interested in seeing The September Issue? It's due in theaters in NY on August 28 and in other cities on September 11. We'll be there!
