The Wrestler, Seven Pounds, and Yes Men Hit Theaters
Say yes to big screen poundage this weekend.
Will Smith lost at least Seven Pounds to take on the role of tormented IRS agent Ben Thomas. Haunted by the death of his wife and seven others, Ben decides to take his own life. Seeking redemption, he tries to improve the lives of seven other people, including Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson) and Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson), before ending his own.
Looking for life-affirmation of another sort, Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) agrees to say "yes" to everything. Carl soon finds that there are pros and cons to being a Yes Man. One of the pros? Zooey Deschanel, who co-stars alongside Carrey and lends her voice to the movie's soundtrack.
Opening in limited release this week is Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler. The film, about washed up pro wrestler, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, has already earned its star, Mickey Rourke SAG and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor. Co-star, Marisa Tomei, also grabbed a Golden Globe nod for her turn as Randy's stripper friend Cassidy.
