Tia Carrere's Divorce Final But Messy Over Script Rights

Most women crave a mate who appreciates what we do at work, but when your love-partner becomes your work-partner, what happens if the romance fails? Tia Carrere is in the throes of a messy divorce that has Carrere and her now-ex-husband fighting over a film script. How does a judge decide who gets rights?

In this case, the L.A. County Superior Court judge ruled in favor of both Carrere and her husband, photojournalist Simon Wakelin. The judge finalized the couple's divorce earlier this week, and 43-year-old Tia Carrere walked away with a good chunk of the assets the couple shared.

However, Carrere and Wakelin have to split any business that comes out of a script they'd been working on together for a movie called "Wave Dancer." The judge specified in the court documents that the pair have to share "all income derived from the script." Production of the film is expected to begin this year, and Carrere and Wakelin are both currently listed as producers.

What else do they have to share? Custody of their 4-year-old daughter Bianca. When Tia Carrere filed for divorce last April, she asked for sole physical custody of her daughter, and latest reports seem to suggest that she and Wakelin have since worked out an agreement to suit them and little Bianca.
