Tim Tebow's Super Bowl Ad Tackled By Women's Groups
Tebow's pro-life Super Bowl commercial making big waves.
How much does it cost to run an ad during the Super Bowl? $2.5 to 2.8 million. The conservative Christian group Focus on the Family received generous donation from friends to run their pro-life ad starring Florida Gator Tim Tebow during the Super Bowl on February 7...but some sectors of the public say the commercial "sends the wrong message."
Tim Tebow is set to star in the Super Bowl ad with his mother, who fell ill after a trip to the Philippines when she was pregnant with Tim. According to her story, she was told to have an abortion, but refused. After she carried out the pregnancy, Tim was born.
But some women's groups like the National Organization for Women and the Women's Media Center in New York feel Tim Tebow's Super Bowl ad and its pro-life stance have no business airing. "An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year - an event designed to bring Americans together," said Jehmu Greene, president of the Women's Media Center.
In response, Tebow has said, "I know some people won't agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe."
