Today Is World AIDS Day
"Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.”
Today is World AIDS Day. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, which brings individuals and organizations together to draw attention to the worldwide AIDS epidemic.
Twenty years later, AIDS is still a devastating and destructive reality around much of the world. According to the UN, there are now 33.2 million people living with HIV, including 2.5 million children. Approximately 95% of people with HIV/AIDS live in developing nations. In 2007 alone, 2.5 million people became newly infected with the virus.
Many organizations are working to fight the disease by raising money, increasing awareness, and improving education. To find out more about the epidemic, and how you can help, head to AVERT, (PRODUCT) RED, or World Vision.
