Be prepared for 2010! Pantone is now declaring the official color of 2010 to be turquoise. Start shopping now and stocking your closet with the hottest color of the new decade. Your friends will be super impressed that you are right on the ball come January 1.

You know how every year it seems like there's a color that everyone's wearing? A color that is always said to be "so in" right now? Well, it's generally the color that Pantone declares as the color of the year. Like this year, you probably noticed a lot of people rocking the mimosa yellow. And while that color trend will probably carry over into 2010 as well, there's a new color on the block that's going to be even hotter. And that color is turquoise.

Turquoise is one of those colors that already seems to be a bit of a style favorite. Really, who doesn't love that blue-green color on anything from an evening gown to a piece of jewelry? And now that Pantone says Turquoise, also known as Pantone 15-5519, is the color of the year, you're going to see people getting their blue-green on in all kinds of ways. But since you're likely one of the first to get word of this announcement, you can get a head start on the trend and show everyone how fashionable you are.

And turquoise is the perfect color for this new decade, since it's so fresh and cheery-looking. It reminds us of a pollution-free sky and bodes very well for the coming years. I can't wait to get my hands on some turquoise clothing and accessories and start the year right. Plus turquoise is perfect for all seasons, since it can be considered nice and icy for the winter or fresh water-like for the summer.

Head over to Stylehive.com to see what else they have to say about the color of the year. And check out their slideshow of fabulous turquoise vintage finds to get your collection started.

Love this color, I always have. My favorite piece of jewelry is a turquoise necklace. I could totally go overboard on this!
