Twilight Director to Make Modern-Day Hamlet. But Where's Robert Pattinson?

We want to see Robert Pattinson as Hamlet!

Twilight Director, Catherine Hardwicke, has a new project on her hands. Similar to Twilight she's going to take a piece of literature and adapt it to the screen. And this time it's Hamlet. Are you thinking what we're thinking? Robert Pattinson would make one hot Hamlet!

Unfortunately, Hardwicke already chose her Hamlet and it's Lords of Dogtown star Emile Hirsch. We don't really know much about Hirsch, but come on, Robert Pattinson would make the perfect tortured Hamlet. And then Kristen Stewart could play the mentally disturbed Ophelia. OK, so Hardwicke probably isn't looking to recreate Twilight, and maybe, just maybe she can actually make Emile Hirsch into the next big-screen heartthrob.

Hardwicke says she will "create a modern-day supernatural thriller based on Hamlet," so maybe it will have some similarities to Twilight as far as the supernatural goes. The producers say their goal is "to present the story as a suspense thriller. We want to make it exciting and accessible for an audience today." We're excited to see how they do it. And if there will be vampires involved.
