Twilight Makes Way for Vampire Television Shows
We've all gone vampire wild
Twilight has become such a huge phenomenon that vampire shows seem to be popping up all over these days. The newest vampire show, starring Ian Somerhalder, is called The Vampire Diaries and is sure to be a hit.
Like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries is also based on a series of books. And like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries is centered around, what else, vampires. Which means people will watch.
The Vampire Diaries is set to air on CW in the fall and star Ian Somerhalder admits that it will probably be possible because of Twilight. He says that Twilight, "is a huge phenomenon... Quite possibly and inarguably, yes [we have a show because of it], so I'm not going to complain. I haven't seen [Twilight] yet, so I don't know how it compares, but yeah, it's good that they're around."
We wonder if Ian is hoping to become the next Robert Pattinson, as he will also be playing a vampire in the new show. Ian says, "Vampires are very hot. It's fun playing a vampire. You're 200 years old. You can fly around. You can eat beautiful girls - well, you can suck on their neck. I don't physically cut them up and eat them. That would be a little sick."
In addition to Twilight's New Moon coming out next November and The Vampire Diaries premiering in the fall, HBOs vampire series, True Blood, will also continue this summer. It can't be denied, vampires are hot. Especially if they look like Robert Pattinson. But we have to admit, Ian Somerhalder isn't too bad himself. We loved his on Lost. Hmm, we predict another vampire crush coming on!
