Twilight Saga 'New Moon' Is For The Fans

If you're anything like us, you can't even believe there was criticism for New Moon. But there is always someone to criticize every movie and New Moon is no different. And in responding to that criticism, Chris Weitz says simply that New Moon was made for the fans.
Chris says, "Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews... Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing." We definitely agree and it seemed like the reviews definitely went one way or another, but that there seemed to be a lot more bad than good. But after thinking about that, we realized that not everyone is going to like or understand the appeal of New Moon. And most critics are not already Twilight fans.
And really, who else matters but the fans? Chris Weitz continues by saying, "If one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie by the fans... What I've realized over the last week is I won't necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don't get it, then you don't get it." We couldn't have said it better ourselves!
Ask any Twilight fan and they're very likely to tell you they absolutely loved the movie version of New Moon. And doesn't that matter a whole lot more than what a movie critic who knows nothing about the saga think? Not to mention, New Moon raked in a whopping $285 million worldwide opening weekend alone! So, we say, no matter what the reviewers are saying, the movie is a huge success!
