Re-writing Twilight

Sure, Stephenie Meyer wrote the Twilight books. But a script still needs to be written for each movie. And that job was left up to Melissa Rosenberg. Now she's opening up about how she went about writing it.

Melissa Rosenberg has written for television shows like The O.C. and Ally McBeal. She's also a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So when she was asked to write the script for Twilight, she jumped at the chance. She's now working 5 days a week writing for Dexter and 2 days a week for the Twilight movies. Busy lady!

She recently gave an interview and talked about some of Stephenie Meyer's requests. Apparently, Stephenie had written into her contract what she wanted in the movie. At first Rosenberg was worried it would be too restricting, but then she realized Stephenie just really wanted her to turn the book into a movie and not do anything outside of the story. And Rosenberg was OK with that because she loves the books! Throughout her script writing, Rosenberg has collaborated very frequently with Stephenie Meyer.

Melissa Rosenberg talks a little bit about what to expect in New Moon too. She says that although Robert Pattinson's character, Edward Cullen, might not have been physically present in the book very much, he's very much present in Bella's mind. She says that Edward will be present in much of the movie and she thinks they came up with a solution that will satisfy fans.

Rosenberg claims that Eclipse has been the hardest of the Twilight series to write. And that there are lots of "Easter eggs" hidden throughout.

We can't wait to see how the rest of the Twilight movies match up to the books!
