Twilight's Jackson Rathbone Shares Eclipse Secrets

Jasper's pre-vampire days

It's kind of crazy that we still haven't seen New Moon and we're already hearing details about Eclipse. But, we're not complaining! Jackson Rathbone is sharing some secrets about the upcoming Twilight movie.

Jackson Rathbone plays Jasper Hale Whitlock, the 166-year-old Civil War veteran who lives with the Cullens in the Twilight saga. Jackson is on his way to Vancouver to join the rest of the cast filming Eclipse. But first he answered a few questions of MTV and revealed some Eclipse details.

It sounds like there will be lots of flashbacks in Eclipse, going back to Jasper's time in the Civil War. And his experience fighting the war helps him in dealing with the current vampire "situation." According to Jackson, "Yes, I get to shoot some Civil War stuff, and I'm also going to shoot a lot of fighting scenes. It's interesting; there's a lot of cool scenes where Jasper trains the Cullen family on how to fight the newborns."

We'll get to see a lot of Jasper before he was a vampire and before he met his love, Alice Cullen. Jackson says, "I've been studying up a lot on the Civil War and that era. It really was a crazy time. It was all-out war on our own turf and between countrymen. That's terrible. It's an interesting time to see when Jasper was actually human and what his human form was and, when he gets turned, how intense and how dark he is. Then [we'll see] his realization of what he's become, him finding Alice and being redeemed by love." Aww, we love that we'll get to see him falling in love with Alice Cullen!

Jackson will also get to ride a horse and do some tricks while up in the saddle! He says he's totally out of practice and will need a few sessions to get him back in gear, but we think that will be an awesome addition to the movie.
