Tyra Will Go Natural to Send a Positive Message

Maybe I'm the only one who's snickering here, but Tyra's most recent move is a little on the awkward side. The former model and current talk show host will be ditching her weave to show off her natural hair like never before, in an effort to encourage women to "own and rock what they've got." That's ironic, because she's been weaving weaves and wigs for years. Better late than never? I guess.

On September 8, 2009, Tyra will be unveiling her tresses at 4 p.m. on The CW. Her release reads:

"For the Season 5 premiere, I will be doing just that - no fake hair, I'm rocking my REAL hair. This will all be going down on September 8, 2009, which we’re declaring National Real Hair Day! We welcome everyone to go natural with me!"

Some people are wondering if Tyra will have an almost-shaved head this September, which would be really interesting (and trendy), I'll admit. I'm all about natural beauty, but if you feel awesome with your faux hair, who cares? I'm going to be peeking in to see how she looks, but I'm not sure I'll be ditching my beauty routine.
