U2's Bono Hitchikes with Pro Hockey Player
Bono gave him backstage passes.
Despite popular legend, not all hitchhikers are homicidal chainsaw killers. Some, in fact, are rockstars. Hockey player Gilbert Brule overcame his own road-side reservations this week when the hitchhiker he picked up turned out to be none other than U2 frontman Bono.

Brule, who plays for the Edmonton Oilers, was on a trip to a dog park with his girlfriend, Kelsey Nichols, in Vancouver, British Columbia, when the couple spotted two men stranded on the side of the road.
"I said no, we're not picking up a hitchhiker. We're going to die," Nichols told CTV. "There's no way."
Eventually Brule managed to convince his level-headed girlfriend to stop the car, and in hopped Bono with his assistant. They sat in the backseat with Brule's German Shepherd, Bella.

Turns out Bono was out for a walk with his assistant when they got caught in the rain. Luckily Brule and Nichols drove by before the rockstar got too soaked.
To thank them, Bono gave the couple backstage passes to U2's concert Wednesday night in Edmonton. Brule and Nichols sold their tickets to game one of the Stanley Cup Finals and went to the show instead.
Bono even gave the pair a shout-out during the concert. "I like people who play ice hockey -- they stop for hitchhikers," the singer told the concert crowd. "I know this from experience."
