Want More Erotic Dreams? Sleep On Your Stomach
Erotomania: The Belief Someone Else (Usually Famous) Is In Love With You
So you're at the beach when a supermodel on a unicycle rides over and compliments you on your toned stomach, and before you know it you're swapping spit in the bathroom of a nearby taco shack. Wake up, dummy. You've been sleeping on your stomach again.
People who sleep on their stomachs are much more likely to experience erotic dreams, a new study from China shows.
Researcher Calvin Kai-Ching Yu, of Shue Yan University in Hong Kong, surveyed 670 people (two-thirds of whom were female) and asked them about their dreams and in which positions they sleep at night.
The results show that respondents who slept on their front were more likely to report sensations of sex, as well as feelings of being tied up, being locked up or being unable to move.
Researchers believe these feelings have a lot to do with the fact that, when you sleep on your stomach, you're getting less air. As for the sex, I'm guessing having a lumpy pile of sheets and pillows beneath your crotch might add to the experience.
Says Kai-Ching Yu: "I believe that the brain during sleep is not at all totally detached from the external world, and stimuli, including those stemming from the environment, are probably incorporated into dream content more often than people observe or are aware of."
