Was Lady Gaga's "Telephone" Banned From MTV?
Do you want your MTV?
Could it be? The Network that shows young adults getting wasted and making out in hot tubs on a daily basis (think, Jersey Shore, Real World, etc.) doesn't want to show Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone" video? That's what CNN is reporting anyway.
MTV is denying it, but CNN is reporting that MTV has banned Lady Gaga's "Telephone" video for its "raunchy provocativeness." There's no doubt that the video is a bit more wild than most music videos, especially the prison scene. But really, it doesn't seem like too much for MTV. Not much is.
But MTV is denying these reports and their Manager of Programming sent out a tweet saying, "The report is false..we've been airing it on amtv since friday morning and we're not douchebags (or sexist)..." Uhh, way to tell them.
But if MTV isn't playing the video, we think it more likely has more of something to do with the fact that MTV doesn't really play music videos anymore. Especially 9:32 videos. Let's face it, MTV used to show videos. And then they slowly started making them shorter and shorter (remember on TRL?). Until they stopped all together. So, why would they want to play a video that's longer than 9 minutes?
Not to mention, the video does seem like one big product placement. What's up with that, Gaga?
