Was it Smart of Supernatural to Guest Star Paris Hilton?

If you're a Supernatural fan, you probably have some strong feelings on whether or not you're excited to see Paris Hilton guest star on an upcoming episode. She could make for some entertaining television, but is she really what Supernatural fans want to see?
Some are claiming that Supernatural is jumping the shark by inviting Paris Hilton to guest star on the show. After all, it does kind of look like a desperate attempt to up viewership and cause some chatter. And while people are definitely talking, we're not sure Paris Hilton is really going to be an appeal to watch the show.
But Eric Kripke, the show's creator, doesn't think they're jumping the shark with Paris Hilton. In fact, he thinks it's a fabulous idea to have her on. He says, "I don't think we're gassing up the motorcycle to jump the shark yet... It's a fun, irreverent episode about modern celebrity. [Fans] should withhold judgment until they see it."
We're not judging Supernatural, we're just judging Paris Hilton, who already isn't our favorite actress/person in the world. But who knows, maybe she does an excellent job playing the "monster who takes the form of Paris Hilton." We'll have to wait until the show airs on October 8 to see.
Furthermore, Kripke wants us to know that he personally made the decision to cast Paris. He says, "There was no pressure from the studio or network to do any stunt casting... We had our wish list in the room of who would be the best spokesperson for a satirical monologue on modern celebrity and Paris Hilton was at the top of the list."
Kripke thinks it's awesome that Paris Hilton agreed to do the show saying that she got the joke immediately and wanted to sign on. We're glad she has a sense of humor, but we're sure many Supernatural fans are wishing she'd stay away from their show!
