There's been some question over whether Ricky Martin came out to boost his career, but more prevalently there's a lot of support for Martin's move. It is speculated that Ricky Martin has had a boyfriend for some time, especially because it's not very likely that Martin became a dad via surrogacy in 2008 on his own. Ricky Martin is known to be one of the most humble and level-headed pop stars in the world, and while financially he could raise his 19-month-old twins with no worries, raising them emotionally as a single dad doesn't seem like a likely decision. We don't doubt that Ricky Martin had a partner in the matter.

The Miami Herald suggests that Ricky Martin's boyfriend is a Puerto Rican man like Ricky, as it's reported that the two were photographed together on a somewhat recent vacation (both in Speedos, playing in the water and talking casually but closely on the beach). And if they are co-fathers together, the names of their sons would further point to Ricky Martin's boyfriend's Latin background: they named the boys Matteo and Valentino.

Meanwhile, there's also a report that Ricky Martin's boyfriend was very much behind Martin's coming out -- in fact, it's said the boyfriend forced it. The Miami Herald reports, "[Martin's] boyfriend ... was tired of living in hiding and threatened to expose his sexuality."
