'Zombieland' Cameo Kept Secret, Until Now
Read on to find out.
In the new film Zombieland, creators originally wanted Patrick Swayze to make an apearance. But after his untimely sickness they went looking for someone to take his spot, and they ended up with one of the coolest stars around.
According to the website ShockTillYouDrop.com, the film's writers wanted Patrick Swayze to appear in the film as a zombie and pay homage to his Dirty Dancing days.
"It was [going to be] a Patrick Swayze zombie," says writer Rhett Reese. "They got attacked by him zombified and we had these wonderful moments where they found a potter's wheel and there's Columbus on the wheel and these other hands come up behind him and it's Patrick Swayze the zombie. Ultimately, they fight and Patrick bull rushes Tallahassee (Harrelson) who grabs him and lifts him into the air, a la Jennifer Grey, and smashes him into a pillar."
Man, that would have been funny. But, alas, Swayze tragically fell ill and passed away earlier this month. So instead of Swayze, the film's producers went through a list of major actors and action heroes -- From Sylvester Stallone, Joe Pesci and Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill, to The Rock and Jean-Claude Van Damme -- until finally settling on one of the funniest comedians around...
SPOILER ALERT
Spelled backwards, it's yarruM lliB! Apparently the actor makes an extended cameo appearance and, according to some reviews, saves the entire movie. So run out and catch Zombieland if you want to see him smash some zombie brains.
