Pleats, pin tucks, and petals, oh my!
Break out the bubbly! Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, Heidi Klum and guest judge Tim Gunn (surprise, surprise Miss Kenley!) have declared a winner – Leanne Marshall! After much suspense, dazzling designs and some heart pumping runway music, Leanne took home the big prize, winner of Project Runway!
Both whimsical and structured in her designs, Leanne’s intricate use of pleats and pin-tucks stayed true to her point-of-view. We say it was clear as water – Leanne was a winner from the very beginning. Bravo!
Will it be Structurally Sound or Stepford Chic?
Tonight we see who has the winning collection at Bryant Park. Will the $100,000 and weird Saturn family truckster prizes go to Kenley? Korto? Leanne?
Kenley "Stepford Chic" Collins
INS: Kenley's designs are flirty and fun, innovative while still classic. Her personal style matches her work, creating a nice symmetry (and useful marketing schtick).
OUTS: Her sensibilities may be too single-focused. Good for now, when we're in the height of the Mad Men craze, but later? Also, bad, bad attitude. Wait, is that a negative or a positive?
Korto "Heartstring Tugger" Momolu
INS: Korto brings energy, culture, light and brightness to her clothes. And her determined mama/refugee narrative isn't hurting her with viewers.
OUTS: While Korto has proved a kind of jack of all trades, her downfall maybe be that she's not the absolute master of any. Knowing when to edit, as the judges are so fond of saying, may also be an area for improvement.
Leanne "Structurally Sound" Marshall
INS: Excellent construction, sharp yet simple detail, unique inspiration. Polished and precise as her pretty little nose.
OUTS: If we've seen one Leanne Marshall, have we seen them all? Risk and evolution may be missing in Leanne's portfolio.
Your life on the big screen.
Have you ever thought about who would play you in the movie version of your life? Would Angelina Jolie have the starring role? And what if you already were a celebrity?
Turns out, Eric Dane fantasizes about his E! True Hollywood Story, and he'd cast Carrot Top as himself. Really? We're talking about McSteamy here. Leonardo DiCaprio would be the better choice.
Who would Tim Gunn assign to "make it work"? None other than CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper. The Silver Fox discussing hemlines? It could happen.
Lance Bass requests HSM star Zac Efron as the lead in his biopic. We think that's a good choice given Efron's singing and dancing ability.
Eric Dane's fiancé, Rebecca Gayheart would give the role of herself to Michelle Pfeiffer. Hmm. Is that a good casting decision, given she'd be performing with Carrot Top?
